About myself

Hello! Welcome to Room 416 and Mrs. Goulding's fourth grade. I have been an elementary school teacher in Malden since 1993 and have taught here at the Beebe School since it opened in 1999. I actually began my teaching career at the Lincoln Junior High School in Malden in 1978, after graduating from Simmons College in Boston with a degree in education and human services. I earned my masters degreee in education and reading from Salem State College in 1993 and returned to the Lincoln School as an elementary school teacher. For fifteen years, I was a Title One reading teacher working with children in classrooms in grades one through four. I have taught reading and writing skills, and helped children prepare for MCAS tests. As a literacy teacher and coach, I found myself spending more and more time in fourth grade classrooms, so two years ago I began working in just one classroom and teaching fourth grade.

Welcome To Grade Four!

Welcome to fourth grade, we are going to have a great year together. It was fun meeting you all on the last day of school, and I am already planning for the first day of school, September 1st. I hope you are getting ready too. Everyone should be reading for at least thirty minutes every day. You can read whatever you like, but you can not take a day off! You should also be practicing your multiplication facts. Life in grade four will be much easier for you if you come knowing your times tables in September. In the links section, I have put some links for reading ideas as well as multiplication games. I also hope you're going to the library often, and participating in the summer program there. Along with reading, practicing your math and going to the library, I hope you are having some fun this summer. Enjoy the sun and beach and whatever you like to do with your family, so that you come back to school rested and ready to learn! Feel free to email me at school-- tgoulding@malden.mec.edu, if you have any questions about fourth grade or you just want to say hi! See you in September!

Homework

Make sure you are keeping your summer reading log, and bring it school with you in September. During the year, children have math, reading and social studies homework just about every night. This homework should be recorded in their agenda books. It is important to get in the habit of using your agenda book, and making sure you take home the right materials to complete your homework. I do not update this website on a daily basis, but any big projects expected to be finished at home will be described here.
