ABOUT MYSELF

Arriving in Malden in 1974 straight from North Adams State College with a degree in Early Childhood Education,I first began teaching at the Leonard School.Many years and a Master,s Degree in Elementary education from Suffolk University later,I am now at home at the new Beebe School.

NEWS

For all of the new fourth graders who might be checking in.... I hope your summer is going well. I hope you are all reading alot.It is hard to believe that the summer is over and that we are ready to get back to work! I am looking forward to a wonderful year. We have a new reading series filled with exciting stories. You will be working hard in your THINK MATH books and may have one of the other fourth grade teachers for math. We will be writing alot and before you know it you will be writing a five paragraph essay!I can't wait to get started.There will be many exciting projects in Science and Social Studies.Fourth grade is an exciting year!

Homework

Homework is given nightly Monday through Friday. Please check your child's agenda book daily and review homework assignments. We spend time each afternoon preparing our books to assist us with our homework assignments. Please sign your child's book daily.Encourage independent reading daily! Homework is an extension of the concepts covered in class. Students should be able to do the assignments with minimal support. ASSIGNMENT- 9/8 Read for 20 minutes aloud to someone in your home. Study and practice with your times table chart . This wil help you as we work on multiplying magic squares in THINK MATH this week.

English Language Arts

Please continue reading at least 15 minutes a day. We will pass out reading logs on Monday.

Math Overview

We are using the series called THINK MATH. Please encourage your child to share what they are doing with you. Encourage them to ask questions and speak up in class.
